Clay Time After School Students This class meets every week throughout the School year.
Students can choose each day to work on the wheel or hand-build or work on a sculpture.
Recommended age for the wheel is 12 and up.
In the Hand-Building with Sculpture class, students will learn how to sculpt animals using a pinch method, modeling or by using an armature. Hump and/or slump molds will be used to make a bowl and/or plate. Younger students will make pressed plates and wind chime or wall hanging pieces and focus on pinch animals as well as crafting functional items such as a mug and bowl!

Students will learn the basics of Wheel Throwing including preparing the clay for the wheel, centering the clay, sinking the well, opening the well, raising the wall and shaping the form.
Students will make a cup, bowl, plate, Vase and more in this week long camp.
In addition students will learn how to add surface decoration through the use of stamps , sgraffitto and carving and by using a variety of stamps and rollers.
Student will learn how to hand trim and finish their work with under-glaze application and Glazing.
Space is limited to 8 students for the wheel. Registration opens March 2025

1 piece $25 - usually takes 1 hour
2 pieces $45- takes 2 hours

Prices are per person and includes the cost of the piece, glazing and firing fees. Larger pieces or 2 part pieces will cost a bit more.
CHRISTMAS Ornament Classes are held all year long. Make 10 ornaments $65 per person!

Schedule a group of your own for a Wheel class, Christmas Ornament Class, Mug Making Madness, Fall Decor like Pumpkins, Gnomes and Mushrooms! Bring your own idea and I will turn it into a class!

In this Beginners Class you be introduced to the basics of wheel throwing.
No prior experience in clay is needed!
You can expect to create 4-6 pots in the 1st 2 sessions on the wheel.
1st & 2nd classes: Learn the Basics: of Preparing your clay for the wheel. Learn wedging & throwing techniques for creating Mugs and Bowls, or Vace shapes from a simple cylinder of clay.
3rd Class : Covers adding handles, texture and hand trimming. During the 4th class: You will learn basic glazing techniques.
*Please keep in mind there could be hand-buiding students using the studio at the same times as a wheel class.**
This class is for Beginners who want a little more the first time in the studio.
Classes 1st & 2nd classes will be the same as in the 4 week class: Learning: Wedging, Basic Wheel throwing with simple forms such as: Mugs and Bowls. The 3rd class: continue throwing basic forms and learning how to change their regular appearance by creating Altered forms while the clay is still soft.
The 4th class will be: Adding a Foot by hand trimming or trimming on the wheel. 5th Class will cover adding handles, texture and other surface design. Glazing begins.
In the 6th class you will return to the studio for Glazing.

8 Week Class
Ready a bit more? This class if for those who want to continue working with clay, or want to make a "set" of one type of form, or want to mix in some different techniques along with the Basics.
If you are a 1st time clay student Class 1-4 is the same as in the 6 weeks class with the addition of learning one or more of the following: Sgraffito,
Water Etching, or Wiggle Wired forms during week 4 .
Weeks 5 & 6 are for trimming, adding handles and carved texture. Week7 & 8 will be for glazing your work.
Beginners are welcome here in the 8 week class! Price 4week X2-!

Consider this your
Baby Basics Class!
Here you can decide if the potter's wheel is for you. Weather you are looking to cross off a line item on your bucket list or find your new lifelong hobby, you can expect to create 1-2 pots during this session.
This 2 hour class will introduce you to the basics of "throwing a pot" on the wheel. Everything you need to successfully create a pot or two is included: studio clay, tools & glazes will be provided. Return 1-2 weeks later for an additional 1 hour class on adding Glaze to your work at no additional charge!
Date Night Classes
Bring your honey or special someone for a one time 2- 3 hour "throwing" session using the potter's wheel. Learn how to prepare your clay and throw the basic cylinder form from which you can shape a cup or bowl. Make matching Coffee mugs or Bowls. Have a specific idea of what you want to make? Just contact me or send me a picture and I will let you know if it is do-able in the time allotted!
Return 2 weeks later for a 1 hour Glazing class. no additional fee.
